Easter Peeps Centerpiece

Use some Easter signature treats to create a fun festive holiday arrangement. Throw a bandana around any vase or drinking glass and add some beads to anchor the peeps in place.

To make the peeps stem use aluminum floral wire and twist around a pencil.

If your planning on making an edible arrangement use lollipop sticks or wood skewers as stems.

Chirp Up Some Spring Cupcakes

These little hatched cupcakes emulating baby chicks will have your toddler chirping for more.

To do:

Use a couple of drops of yellow food coloring an stir vigorously into white frosting.

Put yellow frosting in a piping bag (using a star piping tip) and gently squeeze upwards giving the frosting a furry effect.

For a layered sparkle textured look, sprinkle on some yellow crystals.

Add chocolate chip for eyes and a half of a jelly bean for the beak.

Warm and Fuzzy Love Note Card

Add a little felt and a little fun to your Valentine's day card. With these no fuss layers of love, sure to win over your honey or your little one!

I used nesting heart cookie cutters as a template to make the heart shape.

Use the cookie cutter and trace a heart shape on a piece of felt.

Layer the heart shaped felt on top of each other. Use a pinking shear scissor on every other heart to create a zig zag effect.

Add a button and use a needle and thread to bind pieces together.

For a the last touch I tucked in a fortune cookie message.

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Footballs

"Are you ready for some football"...start with these easy to whip up — chocolate covered strawberry! These little sweets make a delightful Superbowl desert!

2 dozen ripe strawberries
2 cups of milk chocolate chips

- Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with foil or...I used cupcake papers to give them a decretive little serving dish.

- Wash the strawberries and dry them thoroughly.

- Place the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave them until they melt, stirring every 40 seconds. It should take about 2 minutes.

- Holding a strawberry by the stem, dip it in chocolate, twirling it in a circular motion.

- Once all of the berries are dipped, refrigerate them for 30 minutes to set the chocolate.

- Put frosting in a zip lock plastic bag and cut a very small hole in the corner to add football lace details.

Cheese Shaker Flower Arrangement

Ok, so I'm always searching for different ways to make the perfect arrangement, and I think I found it with these generic 6 oz cheese shakers.

These cheese shaker lids make a perfect flower frog.

Tip: Use flowers that have a slim stem, daisy flowers work great.

For an extra splash of color use one drop of food coloring

DIY Supermarket Flower Arrangment

Eww...supermarket flowers, it's easy to walk by them with their plastic cellophane wrapping, but look a little closer, you might find a little treasure waiting to bust into an arrangement.

Just peel wrapping from the flowers, cut stems on an angle and pop them in any bottle collection or use your drinking glasses to create a uniform look. The bottles can shape-shift your flowers into any shape you want. For the nosegay arrangement, just gather the flowers one by one in your hand on a slight angle, the stems should look like a tripod shape, then cut bottom stems straight across. Tie with ribbon and place in a shallow bowl. I added some glass marbles to reinforce the stems to stand upright.

Closet Makeover...start organizing!

Ok...this is not the usual time of year to organize your closets, but my daughters closet was so out of control that it was time for a clutter patrol - asap. We just couldn't find anything, pile of shoes, broken organizers which were hanging by a tread (literally) and the out of control hangers...YIKES!

I only bought one draw organizer, all the other items were repurposed from another room or were already in the closet.

I emptied the closet and got rid of anything that didn't fit, was trashed or clothes she just didn't want to wear anymore. Duh...I know we all know this, but sometimes it's hard to let go of the sparkly dress she wore for a party that is three sizes too small...donate it!!

The hangers: I know... people have favorites, wood, huggable, fabric...whatever you prefer is great. Just stick to one kind/style. If the hangers are all exactly the same, they will fit smoothly together.

The bins on the top shelf hold all her seasonal clothes, they were already in her closet we just organized it better.

The wire stacking bins were repurposed from the kitchen...the shoes fit perfectly in the little nook.

I bought the draw organizer at Target and added labels.

For the last touch, I added an over the door hook that was in my room...now it holds the clothes for the next day. No "what should I wear" drama, it's all ready to go!

Kiddie Christmas Tree Cupcakes

I made these cupcakes for our (last minute) family sunday dinner. I know they are not the fanciest cupcakes but I search for what I had in my cabinet and I came out with a bag of m&ms. I'm still debating if they look like a Christmas tree or just like an arrow? Well anyway...they were a big hit with the kids...well, most of them.

So simple...just add m&ms in a triangle shape and a cut jelly bean as the tree trunk.

Four thumbs up from my kids and nieces!

My other niece opt for her home baked cookies she made with her mom...go girl!

Add A Festive Flair To Your Flower Arrangement

I love the way the gold bird is perched on the flowers. It reminds me of the bird Carrie Bradshaw wore as a veil in the movie Sex and the City.

My Not So Real Tree:)

This is my not so real christmas tree, it's a tradition to alway put it up Thanksgiving weekend...the kids have off...I have off! Win!Win! This is my new slim potted base tree from balsamhill.com (it fits perfect in my little space). The needles are so realistic, definitely an upgrade from my old cheepy wire hinged branches.

The base is my favorite part. Now I don't have to cover up the metal base that came with my old tree.

This is my daughter Sophia, although she was having so much fun putting the ornaments in her hair and on the tree, she was done in five minutes and scurried off!

This is my daughter Ava, she hung in there until the Christmas tree was done...like I could have stopped her.

Little Treasures

The shelf in my little girls room is filled with tiny treasures...from her first collection to passed down family heirlooms. The shelf is low enough to reach, but still high enough so she isn't bumping into it.

Here is my daughters (white) rock collection. On every vacation she searches to find the perfect rocks on the sandy beaches.

Perched on the shelf is her delicate ballerina...you wind her up and gracefully she turns her head from side to side as the music is playing.

This pooch pillow was passed down from Great-Great Aunt Sandy...it still has the Saks Fifth Avenue tag on it. It's truly a treasure.

Candy Cane Christmas

I really love to look around my house to see what I can craft with. Being the Christmas season I had a lot of mini candy canes around. I usually tuck a candy cane with a gift, on a card or I just like to eat them. So the other night my husband informed me that some friends were coming over (pre-holiday dinner) that night...WHAT...I shouted...TONIGHT! Lets start with I have no food, no flowers and no time! I tried to compose myself... food...we'll have to order in. Flowers...ok...not your typical centerpiece.

I had a box of mini candy canes and I just snapped them with my hands to create words and shapes. Then I hot glue to cardstock paper.

If you are a little scared of a glue gun or you just have zero time, place two candy canes together to create a heart shape on every place-setting.

I add a mini candy cane to each Champagne glass.

For the last touch I added candy canes to a shallow glass bowl for a decorative accent and as after dinner mint.

Gift Bows...no bow-dazzler necessary!

I bought a huge bag of those self sticking star bows for cheap, cheap! I don't know why...but I just had to buy them...50 bows! I love ribbon (nice ribbon) and decorating gifts...basically...I like decorating the outside of the gift more then buying the gift itself, ok I said it!

So, I got busy with my bag of bows! Start wrapping!

This tree topper bow was so super easy. I used glitter cardstock paper, cut a triangle shape with pinking shears, add ribbon for tree trunk, then add a bow for the tree topper.

Poinsettia bow. It doesn't matter how large your gift is. If your gift is small, just add one poinsettia bow, if your gift is large add two, three or as many that will fit!

I used glitter cardstock paper, cut a leaf shape with pinking shears.

Create a lush bow with your extra scraps of ribbon.

Take your ribbon and thread it through the bow, don't pull to tight, you want to keep the ribbon a little puckered.

Paper Silhouette Framed Art

This craft project was so much fun...I was able to capture my girls silhouette in time.

First...take a profile picture of a person. Try to take the photo with a clear background, so you can see details. Then print the photo.

Next...cut the printout photo with a scissor. Then trace the silhouette photo on cardstock paper. I used brown paper, you can use any color that matches your decor.

Then...use a glue stick to bind the cut silhouette to your mat paper (I used an orange pattern paper).

Place in frame, I used two old frames that were in my daughters room and painted them brown with acrylic paint.

Ribbon Tree Christmas Card

I am so excited to start this blog around the holidays...the projects are endless! My first post was going to be about making my window treatment and trim (which I'm still in the process). I woke up this morning (the day after Thanksgiving) and somehow I had Christmas on the brain! Not shopping... crafting! I was looking at a pile of scrap ribbon that I have collected (I'm obsessed with ribbon) and took some cardstock paper and started adding ribbon to it. Now I have a head start with my Christmas Cards! Tis the Season to be Jolly!

How to:
Glue ribbon scraps side by side to paper, cut a triangle shape and then glue the triangle to the card with a glue stick. For tree topper add gems. For tree trunk add a stripe of ribbon.
